I can't speak too certainly about this, but a rabbi seems more likely to believe a nonliteral interpretation of the bible than their Christian or Catholic counterparts. It just seems to be where American jews are at as a culture.
ANYWAY THE REAL ANSWER
When Kendrick was getting taken down, Cornette was actually really soft on him and even a little bit supportive. Last got offended and when full "as a Jew" mode, to which Cornette laughed and doubled down on his soft treatment of Kendrick. Cornette's stance was to forgive because "nobody on this planet is incapable of disappointing me" and it pissed Last off.
