JR is probably best used in the sitdown interviews they occasionally do, his gravitas and history in the business really add to the atmosphere on occasions where they have someone (Hangman before losing to Omega after being kicked out of the Elite is the last time I remember) doing an interview with him about a serious issue.
Excalibur is just annoying to me, him going "OOOOOOOOHOHOHOHOOOOOO!!!!!" at the spots we see every other week is fucking tiresome. I would replace him with Ian Riccaboni in a heartbeat. If the booking was serious enough for JR to be consistently interested and excited about the show him and Ian would be a kino commentary duo, but alas.
