No, it isn't. TNA had a show on Monday night that was directly competing with Raw and was getting over a million viewers, and had actual stars on the show such as Jeff Hardy, Rob Van Dam, Kurt Angle, and even Hulk Hogan (still a draw brother, deal with it).

Impact is a gutted, defeated indie promotion with zero stars, so desperate for attention that they put their world title on a woman just to drum up attention from the controversy. It's pathetic.

Hogan put WCW on top as part of the NWO angle. Russo booking is what killed WCW, along with Stone Cold Steve Austin getting white hot over in WWF and that momentum bleeding over into, and elevating, other stars like Rock, Foley, Taker, etc. Hogan wasn't really a factor during the last several months of WCW.

While I agree with hindsight that it was a mistake, Tessa was pretty legit at the time. Her feud and match with Sami to win it was really good. I think it said more about the state of Impact's men's division at the time that no other person was considered for the spot.

I don't think (or at least hope) it'll ever happen again but those of us who were watching the show, it pretty much was the only direction it really could have gone at the time.

They get reasonably decent views here in the UK due to them being on the game show channel.

Plus for the longest time they kind of became /ourguys/ because unlike WWE they were consistently running shows over here and we were somewhat starved of wrestling in the 2000s. TNA's UK shows were always sellouts.
