>>5275379In the case of the WWE, it's because Michael Cole has gorilla position yapping in his ear constantly to say shit they want him to say which isn't good and because everyone else just does as told.
JR and Lawler worked brilliantly together because JR knew to call wrestling as it happens, not as it was scripted. That's how Lawler got his jokes in and Ross kept it believable. The same can't be said for other teams.
In the case of AEW, it's a mystery.
We've got JR there and he's calling things as it happens right in front of him through the monitor, but sitting at the same table are one old pal of his who's a great interviewer but basically calls the same plays the same ways as JR, and an indie mark with a mask who's got a wrestling encyclopedia up his ass and cannot stop overhyping every single thing he sees even when it completely misses and doesn't get sold.
If there were guys calling things as it happened, like JR and Solie and Russell and Monsoon, even Vince McMahon, then American commentary wouldn't be so shit today.
Unfortunately they aren't calling wrestling as a sport. They're calling it as goofy scripted children's entertainment, as if it's a fucking videogame.
