You're right, but WM13 was actually supposed to be Bret vs Shawn Part II at the time of that poster being made. Magazine ads were also featuring the two of them instead of Austin

That's actually an interesting question, because he would seem to be the odd man out once you look at the event card. Bret had been scheduled to win the '97 RR and win the belt back from Shawn at WM. Not only did Shawn "lose his smile" but they also decided to let Austin win the Rumble after Vince Russo basically spoiled Bret winning to fans during an episode of livewire

Another victim of “events scheduled to change”. He was supposed to be the one to beat Shawn at Survivor Series '96 before Shawn threw his bitch fit at SummerSlam. The feud would've ended with Shawn winning the rubber match at the RR '97

I read/heard years ago that Bret vs Shawn was the plan but it was always going to be non-title, than Taker-Sid was always going to be for the title as a gold watch win for Taker. Dunno if true or not.

Interesting. Bret did an interview a few years ago about how the match was planned and said it was going to be a title match. He said Shawn was going try to finish him off with a superkick like he did at the end of the ironman match but Bret would catch him this time. Ken Shamrock was still going to be the ref and Bret said the match was going to end with him making Shawn tap to a ufc "shoot style" submission instead of the sharpshooter. Basically Shamrock would have to pull him off like he did in the Austin match and the crowd would be worked into thinking Bret broke Shawn's foot
