Really, the modern NJPW main event style is very much like a Tenryu/Choshu style, you are right about that. But the Tenryu/Choshu style is also King's Road more or less, there are very little differences. Tenryu is just straight up a King's Road guy even. Choshu has a different training lineage but whatever you want to call it, the style is more or less the same.
The one thing I'd say that really sets AJPW King's Road apart from modern NJPW is the lack of alternative / striking finishers. They typically stick to their one finisher formula whereas in a King's Road match, Misawa might finish a match with an Emerald Flowsion, or with a Tiger Driver, or he might just end it with a rolling elbow.
