I agree. There's some problems with this:

The qualifier selections haven't really been explained. Is Tony firing up the TEW name generator to fill spots? Did Dax text him at 2am to get in? Nobody knows. People who are barely even in AEW are getting spots over people who are there weekly. Do those people just not want in? Why would they not want in if this tournament is so important?

Another issue is that this is happening in the first round/first qualifier of this. If this match was in the second round, you could build stories around it and can explain it as "luck of the draw". You could push how if Dax or Cash win, they could possibly face each other. It would give you three matches to build around and you could do some promos and interviews about it to make it more interesting. And because this was announced on Wednesday for Friday, they didn't even have time to make something more out of it.
