Sure we came out of the pandemic era a while ago, but its really starting to feel like right now a rocket is being strapped to the entire damn industry.

And yeah. I'm still waiting for Japan to drop the restrictions, they've teased it a few times but as far as I'm aware there's been no concrete changes, which sucks. Hopefully soon. I don't much care for most American crowds at all but there's a serious difference in energy comparing the matches on WSR compared to the average NJPW show.

I haven't watched the English commentary for this show yet mostly because I rarely like the teams that Strong/Fite bring, but I might do that when I watch the version that's going up on NJPWWorld in May. Regardless, Milano losing his shit over every spot in this match makes Japanese commentary worth it even if it's not what you usually watch.

This match was really fucking good. Shooter looked like he'd improved a lot, but it might just be Jay White or the two meshing together really well. Jay steers the match masterfully into places that makes them both look great.

I still can't take Jay White seriously since the beard. He looks completely different, and not in a good way. Still great in the ring but he's just not the same.

Loved him as the sly, evil dude with a loveable baby face. Something about his new look, he went from totally unique to just a generic bearded bad buy with one change. MAN I love his matches though.

Kek, I'm pretty much the opposite. Maybe it is just because I've gotten used to the beard now but I think he looks kinda silly without it. With the beard he looks like the skeeviest sleazebag ever and I can totally believe him being this much of an asshole heel. What you say about it being a "loveable baby face" is very true to me as well but I think that sort of detracts from the image.

But that was one of the reasons I loved Jay's old look so much. He had one of the most unique looks for a heel in the whole business, a guy that you not only could believe is a total asshole behind it all, but someone that could also easily gain your trust with a face like that.

I can't say he looks WORSE with a beard though, definitely suits him, its just that he went from one of the most unique looks in the business to one of the most generic.

Was this match just Suzuki and Ishii doing a Suzuki vs. Ishii match in front of a crowd that loved it? Yeah. It was by no means anything special in terms of their usual matches aside from an incredibly strong final stretch so I don't really get the people calling it MOTY, but it was a fun match.

Yeah, there are some pretty absurd bumps. That stomp one looks bizarrely safe for what it is, though. I think he gets his arm under him and then steadies out with the shoulder. It's still a nuts bump for that move.

Wish I could comment more on Judo, but its not something I've gone into. The training style never really worked for me, at least for the local dojos.
But also, yes, having taken some mind boggling throws and not knowing how I ended up where I did, I too am convinced that judo includes some form of magic.
