I want to say (did not watch Rampage so I can't say for sure based on what you saw) that it's based on AEW's propensity for wider angles. AEW does a lot of wide shots to catch the full crowd and rarely does very close up angles like NJPW for very long, which probably makes him look smaller with it all zoomed out.

AEW only uses hardcam which is ugly, WWE & NJPW utilize actual camera work with a lot of framing and zooms. It’s why the Okada zoom out is so much more kino than the Best Friends and why most guys who go to WWE & NJPW look like stars instantly with a big entrance.
