Main problem was that he was giga pushed when Bryan was a thing and anyone who was got turned on by the crowd. Didn't help that he wasn't very charismatic and was kinda generic for having such a recognizable look. Although he's improved tremendously and now he's probably one of the top ten talents in America

Both of these, Sheamus is fine and could be a credible main event heel but every time he got to the top of the card he went up against shit guys like Del Rio or was buried for the sake of getting Roman over SHEAMUS 5:15

They tried to make him Irish Cena and smarks being smarks and the dire neverending ADR and Big Show feuds killed him.
By the time League of Nations rolled around nobody cared especially as he was just in the spot to job to Roman.
After that WWE just moved onto Roman from guys like him and Randy. They won't push him toward the title again because his neck could go at any time.
