At long last, WWE has been planning for a big return to WWE TV in the form of Asuka.
Fightful has been made aware of imminent plans for Asuka to return to WWE Raw, as of this weekend. We've learned that as of this weekend, the plan was for her to enter at least a short-term program with Becky Lynch as soon as Monday's Raw, though as is always the case, nothing for WWE TV (or pro wrestling TV) until it actually happens.
We're told there have been numerous pitches from talent and creative as how to bring Asuka back. There were inquiries back in January as to whether or not she could enter the Royal Rumble, but we're told those were quickly shot down and they were told she wasn't ready. In February, WWE officials told Fightful they expected Asuka to be back in the Spring, and were looking forward to her return.
Asuka hasn't wrestled since last July, and has been sidelined with an injury. That match at Money in the Bank is her only match in front of a full audience since March 9, 2020, as WrestleMania 2021 had limited crowds.
We will reiterate. Though this was the tentative plan as of this weekend, there have been numerous changes to Raw all the way up to the show starting.
