there were actually quite a few people online, whether wrestling youtubers, wrestling twitter accounts, or people on reddit, who have talked about going to the temple and how great the experience was. I don't think they were paid actors man.

I agreed with you, you people are still marking out over the fake crowd, so it must work better in the show and there are no smarks to leak behind the scenes shit and expose your production if your whole crowd is controlled, but the problem is, its not an economically viable long term strategy, it will just make your production costs skyrocket and take away much of your income, so its easier to just mute the boos and pipe in cheers while a bored crowd still pays their gate fee and you shoot around their boredom.

yes and no, the crowd consisted of paid actors during the beginning of s1, back when the show had no hype. tickets were free, but you had to email el rey and they had to select you. since each taping was two episodes, you could see more and more real fans come in by the latter half of s1, as the crowds became uglier/more full of men, and the lighting brightened to show off the now filled standing balcony area

Its not just tape delay because it is not a live show, they have a lot of stops and starts and editing to deal with when pretaping entire seasons there would be a lot of time an unpaid crowd wouldn't want to just stand around.

the wait was horrendous they would just make you stand outside of the temple for hours until they let you in. it sucked ass but at least it was free. but once everyone was seated and they started taping there werent many stops or starts for editing. they would only stop whenever melissa fucked up a line during her ring announcements which happened often but she was hot and everyone loved staring at her ass so it didnt matter

so to be clear, if somebody enjoys Lucha Underground enough to express interest in it, and somebody in LU's higher ups reaches out to them to offer them a free seat, how is that any less of a sincere crowd member than any random ticket buyer in any other promotion? They already had to be interested in LU before the higher ups knew to reach out, it's not like there was some kind of casting call asking for people to act like they enjoy the show on TV and then also online.

Yes there was, most of the crowd was extras, not influencers, because there weren't enough influencers and it wouldn't be "special" if the entire crowd was made of wrestling instabloggers with youtube channels and a large following.
