In the past, Stardom have said some dismissive things about AEW. It's rumored that when AEW was forming up they tried to talk to Stardom and didn't get anywhere. Relations seemed chilly.
Mayu Iwatani has been in Lucha Underground and Ring of Honor, and said she owed a debt to Ring of Honor for helping her with her passport. It seemed she had little interest in WWE or AEW.
Hikaru Shida is in Japan right now and is doing a guest appearance in basically every joshi fed EXCEPT Stardom.
Things have changed in the past month. Toni Storm debut'd in AEW and Excalibur name-dropped all her Stardom accolades. Rossy (head of Stardom) posted on social media the "Toni Storm is All Elite" photo and bragged that "a career in Stardom is a career in the world."
NJPW have gone out of their way to say it's a possibility that Stardom could be included in the promotion.
Mayu Iwatani is suddenly interested in their SWA belt (a belt for foreigners, don't ask) because it's the only one she hasnt won and it would make her the first to get a Grand Slam.
My guess is that Mayu Iwatani will win the SWA belt, and do something at the AEW/NJPW show. I don't expect it to be much. There's no woman in AEW who can hang with her in the ring. She will do a safe match, do her iconic moveset, lose, and go home.
