A lot of guys didn't like him personally back in the day...partially because of his arrogance, part jealousy. That along with the death of Miss Elizabeth...people had no problem badmouthing him which created a bad reputation over time.
But the truth is, the guy was OVER, especially after returning to WCW in 95. Watch any of his matches from that run, the crowds were into him and the power rack especially.
He was never a great promo or put on a clinic in the ring, but the dude was over and most of his matches were fun to watch.
