Why does AEW do this constantly? It’s really jarring and somehow it seems to actually be working even though it makes no sense

Remember during that Street Profits-RKBro match where during the Picture in Picture Riddle rolled out of the ring, grabbed a shotgun from under the ring apron and blew his brains out during a Sonic ad? The camera stayed on his destroyed face for a good 10 seconds before they took the PiP down. But then they went back to the show and there he was, in the ring with Dawkins and no sign of blood much less an entry wound. Everyone I talk to said that never happened but I know it did. What is WWE doing with my wrestling?
