Wrestling was on-pace for a boom period when NJPW and ROH were making waves with the Bullet Club and strong-style matches. Everyone assumed WWE would start hiring these wrestlers and having them have those great matches in WWE rings... and then they literally told everyone to fuck off and cheer for DA BIG DOG.
AEW looked to be the answer until it became obvious that the marks were unironically in the ring and booking the promotion.
