>>5478324>KennySlowburn didn't have any story at all by the end. Allying with Dark Order derailed the story. Fagman delaying shit because of coofs and maternity leaves. Stopped with the drunk "people's champ" gimmick. Hangman was one if my favorites but by the end I didn't care at all and didn't want to see him as a champ.
>Danielson x2Pretentious matches whose purpose was obviously wanting to kick things off by showing that Hangman can carry "45+ min 5-star matches". This failed becaused the matches weren't exciting and the saddest thing is that they made Bryan Daniels cannon fodder (and he was already cannon fodder to Kenny prior to this but at least they had a memorable match that felt like a setup for a future title match where Bryan would win).
>LancePredictable because Lance was by theb established as the go-to giant jobber. This wanted to be the opposite of the Bryan feud where they wanted to showcase Hangman as a guy that can have hardcore unsanctioned matches much like Mox and Kenny but it all felt so superficial and arranged, kind of like when Vince tried to push Roman as a face 2015.
>cole x2Tbh I stopped watching AEW at this point but I'm sure it couldn't have been better than Kenny or Bryan.
>danteThis is just silly. I don't remember Kenny having title defenses vs jobbers. Mox had feuds with Jake Hager, Eddie and so on but they were more dimes and they had a build to it, some kind of feud, not some random title defense on Dynamite/Rampage. Same with Jericho, he had a match vs Scorpio but it had some kind of build and story to it. Jericho's title defense vs Jungle Boy was also kind of based where he wanted to heighten Jungle Boy and made it to a draw. Ric Flair had plenty of these kind of matches as well, the most famous one being wrestling a young Sting to a draw at COC.
All in all, Hangman is a symbol of AEW losing it. The image of being the better alternative has been shattered and I hope Punk wins it at DoN
