The Punk in UFC fights and the Jake Paul nonsense have proven that MMA and boxing are comfortable with running with explicitly sports entertainment angles - and that they're more engaging than anything aewwe could ever dream of.

Engagement is a tangible metric, not some amorphous conceptual term. Objectively those YouTubers made bigger headlines in boxing than by doing wrestlemania - because nobody outside wrestling fans wants to acknowledge it's even a thing anymore.

anyways, pro wrestling is not going anywhere. WWE is making profits, AEW keeps growing and Impact will outlive all of us.

Nah
He got over because he was 'different' ie le edgy shootlord with flashy MMA inspired moves. Most guys were one or the other, shoot promo insiders or low ki MMA manlets, he did both.
He was also not like most wrestlers in that he was a straight edge skinnyfat with zero legit athletic background. Dude was all hype, he'd get pasted in a shoot by most pre-2011 wrestlers even of his era.
