They can give him an injury early on and have him sell it the whole tour to give him an excuse for losing.
He can go over outsiders, but lose to the established top NJPW guys, which'd give him a perfectly decent record.
He can have a losing record but get a big win over ELP, Eagles or Despy. If he has a signature win like that nobody will care about his overall record.
Or they can have him get to the block finals and lose. They can do a lot of stuff.
