they use lighting from above the ring and its not in a well lit arena where you can see the audience. it makes everything look more stark and serious. the wwe and aew have bright, stupid looking arenas that look kiddie and goofy.

there's a Tanahashi G1 entrance with Shibata in the foreground trying to tune out the music and ballyhoo while Tana is in the corner behind him posing. Their camera work is legit some of the best in the business and helps tell stories without saying a word

Honestly I'm thinking about asking my local bingo hall fed I can do this for a show or too. Based on browsing their web present they look like more or less what I'd expect from a modern indie promotion but they seem to have similar darkly lit audiences to NJPW (not hard to figure out why) if not their star power so I could get some interesting shots and in any case it would be an interesting experience for a not quite professional level photographer.
