To the people who think Dave Meltzer knows nothing about wrestling…

Go watch his shows from 2001. They're available on youtube. It's absolutely uncanny how Meltzer called down exactly how the wrestling business would unfold over the next 20 years. He knew WWE's popularity had peaked and it would freefall, he knew Austin's heel turn would be a mistake, he knew HHH had a huge amount of influence backstage as a manipulator, he knew exactly how Vince would botch the invasion angle. He knew WCW's death would make everything boring because he had seen the same thing happen as a kid. He knew Vince would eventually give up on having WCW as a separate brand. He knew the brand split would happen. He knew Hogan and Nash were going to join the following year, he knew Goldberg was eventually going to join but wasn't going to be used right. He called John Cena and Brock Lesnar their future stars before they even debuted on TV (he actually called it in 1999) He even somehow knew that a company like AEW would eventually probably come up. Bryan Alvarez even predicts the WWE Network 13 years before it happen.

The only thing he got wrong is that he thought the business would die within 3 years and that he would need a new job. He knew Vince would cater hard to the sponsors. He just didn't know that the TV deals would be raking in the amount of money they do now. Think about it, this was 2001 when they were REALLY strong ratings and PPV wise and he still knew it was going to go down HARD.
