or at least, he loves AJ -now-, but when both were in TNA around 2011 or so they came into conflict over aj's biggest weakness at the time, his promos. i still wouldn't put styles in a top 10 promo list or anything but part of how he got way better at them compared to earlier in his career was that bruce pritchard pissed him off by harping on this weakness so much that he actually started putting genuine effort into getting better which bruce respected

A lot of your success in WWE depends on your attitude. From all accounts, I've heard AJ Styles is a real man and conducts himself very well because that's just naturally him. I am not surprised guys like Orton and Vince like him because he's the sort of person they can depend on to be reliable.

I think they have sort of a similar upbringing with AJ growing up trailer trash with an abusive father and Vince growing up with an abusive stepfather.

He gained Vince's trust when Bray got sick before a PPV and they needed a replacement but AJ was in Argentina I believe but he took the plane back to the states and replaced Bray the next day.

Vince grew up in North Carolina. Vince Sr. left him and his mother, and apparently Vince never met his mick parasite father until he was 12. So he was born and raised in the south, but in his blood and in his DNA, he was a mick parasite just like daddy. Which is why when he grew up, rather than go on to forge his own success, he swallowed his pride and went to work for the father who had abandoned him. Maybe he was afraid of failing, and that's why he went to his father. Maybe he resented his father, and wanted to destroy everything his father held dear (the territories/professional wrestling in general) while at the same time surpassing him (taking over the territories/"sports entertainment").
AJ is an honest, hard-working, self-made Anglo southerner and a family man. He's the ideal that Vince grew up around, what Vince's father never was, and what Vince himself could never be. Also same reason he loves Carder and Austin (minus the family man bit for Austin lol).

even manlets can impress vince provided they're good enough, and aj is one of the best of all time so ofc he'd love him

He was treated like a main eventer immediately and the crowd went nuts for him, same reason CAWdy is doing well now. EC3 and Young got fucked because the crowds didn't give a shit about them causing Vince to think they were deadweight and Roode and Ryker were always treated like midcard guys

EC3 got completely fucked because they put him in a feud with a Dean Ambrose who didn't care anymore and the fans knew he was leaving then he also got punked on the microphone by him so no one gave a shit.
