>>5578537Quackenbush got caught by his wife having an affair with Saturnyne and rather than try and salvage his marriage, Quackenbush was all "I'm glad I got caught!", told his wife he never loved her, and that he despised their son/accused her of getting pregnant to trap him in the marriage.
There was one complication, as Chikara was owned jointly by Quackenbush and his wife, so his tantrum put the company at risk since his wife owned half of it. So he "shut down" Chikara until he could finalize his divorce and basically bartered custody of the kid for the company share his wife owned.
For obvious reasons relating to preserving his saintly public image, Quackenbush only told his most loyal inner circle what was going on. So a lot of Chikara talent were left in the dark as to WHY Chikara suddenly shut down for a year and some, like Johnny Gargano, were very bitter about having been thrown to the wolves like he was and never came back to the company.
To try and damage control things, Quackenbush started promoting one-off wrestling events under the "Wrestling Is Fun" banner and people like Dasher Hatfield, who Quack didn't want leaving but who would probably leave if he found out the nasty stuff going on with Quack's divorce (like him disowning his parents when they refused to cut all ties with his son, Quack's adultery, and the fact that he was pretending to want sole custody purely to blackmail his wife over her share of the company) was given busywork with the "Supper At the Hatfields" web series; which was Quackenbush's attempt to test the ground for doing character driven Youtube shows since he didn't have a TV deal for the promotion.
