They literally made the same game from 2009 to 2019 with some move animations coming straight from the original smackdown vs raw game and yet I'm supposed to believe they are some great developer with a good track record

And this is what 3 years of work and 10 million dollars gets you and a reminder this is supposed to come out in 4 months and they've just began recording crowd noise how long does it take for a company who has been making nothing but wrestling games for almost 20 years to rebuild an engine did they sell the old engine to 2k and visual concepts. Don't even get me started on Kenny Omega probably asking them to add impossible features to the game and the making a wrestling season mode that's 120 hours long filled with useless matches to up your rating if this video game ends up tanking the AEW I hope it takes out yukes to fuck japanese game developers and fuck Kenny Osmegma

The publisher tells them what they want and they develop it. WWE and 2K told them to make a wrestling version of NBA2K.

Recording background noise is not essential for the game. It makes sense that it would be done towards the end. That said, I don't think there has been enough gameplay shown to really judge the full game yet. What has been shown doesn't look that promising.

Only Yukes games I liked were Know Your Role (SD2?), Here Comes the Pain, and 2K19 for the roster+semi technical gameplay. There were never as good as AKI, but the thing is: WWE wanted annual games, which shifted blame from Yukes, to THQ, to WWE.

people like the shit they grew up with and to be fair Visual Concepts working with Yukes gave us 2K15 which was legitimately an awful game
AKI literally did put out the same game four different times but no one ever minded because the standards on the N64 were that, the Acclaim games, or the EA WCW games kek

Yukes is fine. Outside of THQ and 2k they made Rumble Roses and Toukon Retsuden and a few other decent wrestling games. Dealing with the demands of your publishers and WWE for a yearly release there's going to be a lot of copy and paste when you're just a medium sized studio.
It looks like the same thing is happening with the AEW game, unfortunately.
Little budget to work with, two year turnaround time, all self-developed, AEW has people involved who think they know games but are either just fans or only worked on handheld shovelware, heavy expectations and conflicting visions and direction, having to incorporate Yuke's signature engine and knowledge, AEW's vision and style, and bygone vestiges of No Mercy.
