UFC is selling 2 and a half million PPV’s In the current era. Vince ran screaming from pay TV and sold his entire event calendar to Peacock for “record profits” during covid to keep shareholders from dumping and realizing their own streaming service was about to die. He stays afloat sucking blood money covered Saudi cock and then turns around and spends that money on UFC fighters (5 million for one night. 10x what the average WWE mark contract signee makes in a year) to try and fail to pop a rating on a dying medium. The Peacock streaming deal is 200 million a year and was just signed. The UFC deal with Disney is 300 million a year and is over 3 years old. When they renegotiate next year they’ll get half a billion a year. By any metric UFC is more popular than fake fighting.

That’s strange way to measure the popularity of sport/company/brand what have you. A hypothetical situation where some imaginary fan is embarrassed to watch something around an equally imaginary non-fan. It’s like saying Soccer isn’t hugely popular because some hypothetical guy in a bar would rather watch Basketball. Seems like it would be easier just to check the buy rates, check the ratings and look at the fiscals of the parent company. WWE posted record profits last year. So did Endeavor. One of these was 5 Billion the other was under a billion. Guess which was which? Record profits and not a single fight with Connor, Khabib, Jon Jones, DC. Just a bunch of dimeless shitters. One of these companies still runs what’s left of the PPV business, the other gives their events away for free (along with their entire back library). One of these companies runs the key demo on their weekly cable slot (and TV is a fucking afterthought to them). Which company would you trust to still be drawing mega dimes in 20 years? At least in America UFC is a mainstream sport and leaps and bounds the fastest growing participation wise amongst young people considering it’s in its infancy compared to any other sport carried by major networks.
