AEW has certainly come a long way since its inception back in 2019. They have improved themselves in quite a few ways and there is still a lot more they can do. Eric Bischoff doesn’t think the upcoming Forbidden Door event will help grow AEW’s audience.

NJPW and AEW started a working partnership last year, which delighted fans. Their relationship improved to the point that they will be working together for the AEW NJPW crossover event called ‘Forbidden Door.’

While speaking on his podcast Strictly Business, WWE Hall Of Famer Eric Bischoff talked about the ‘Forbidden Door’ event. Bischoff said that he doubts the event will help grow AEW’s audience.

>“How is merging a television property that’s only getting 200,000 viewers a week with AEW, how is that going to increase or attract the casual viewer that AEW doesn’t have? I don’t know, doesn’t mean it’s a bad idea, I kind of dig the idea from a wrestling fan’s perspective, and I’ve spent a lot of time in Japan and have a lot of good memories and experiences working with New Japan. I love the Japanese style of wrestling but that doesn’t mean it’s going to grow an audience.”

Even Booker T recently stated that fans won’t care about AEW and NJPW’s partnership. We will have to wait and see successful the upcoming AEW x NJPW crossover will be.
