I'd rather AEW bring in some guys like TJP or Kenny King, and have him get some 5-10 minute matches in on Dark. Then when the time is right, his first big singles match on PPV should be a submission match vs someone like Samoa Joe or Bryan Danielson.
And I don't want to hear the talk about how Joe/BD is part of some 10 man "main eventer" rotation because he's clearly not playing that role right now, so why treat him like that. Page, Bryan, Jericho, Mox, Punk, Omega, MJF, Wardlow, Cole, Joe -- if everyone is a main eventer then nobody is.
Win or lose, a match vs a former world title holder on PPV is a net positive. No fuckery, no interference, just a good clean match that goes to a real finish.
