This was New Japan's ending. Don't be sad it's over, be glad it happened. With the current top guys in NJPW, there was no more story outside to tell. It still goes round and round, Ospreay and Shingo were just placeholders. It's the same as WWE really, they just haven't built their next generation correctly.
