>>5673479It's both, you're supposed to end the -ee on a trail off. -tsu is similar too, you'll see it more on western terms, where it's closer to "psst" rather than sue. -u at the end of words typically means you don't say the -u and is a way to end words in a consonant sound rather than vowel. Something like desu is des, but also sounds like "death," which leads to a pun. This is why japan fucking loves puns.
