The rednecks, ultra Christians, honor students, emo kids, and black kids never really interacted with each other. Sure, kids sometimes said mean things to each other, but the idea of a gang of schoolyard bullies felt like something long past. The one or two fights that would happen per year were a big deal because it came with a 20 day suspension, which basically means you auto failed the year. In my freshman year there were two assholes that tried to bully others, but they almost instantly became social outcasts - one being sent to a Christian academy and the other became a loner that went to the library during lunch. Is bullying seeing a resurgence thanks to social media, or was my situation unique due to living in the rural South?
