Sadly, like a lot of alternative type of sports, it had no chance as the media refused to cover it. It probably would have done better in the early 90's when that kind of stuff had an easier path way to popularity. It's super hard for stuff like that to gain traction now since people don't have cable anymore and there's way too many entertainment options.

I remembered a few months ago that John Henson tried doing a Talk Soup ripoff on Spike to compete with Man Show and that it was so terrible it was cancled after 10 episodes. Went through and watched a couple and it's as bad as I remember, but there are some really blue jokes in there that certainly wouldn't pass today.

I discovered wrestling as a kid in the 90s, early 2000s through videogames. Never got to see WWF Attitude Era on TV, not available in my country.
By 2007 or 2008, some guy was uploading matches from PPVs to YouTube.
The first wrestling match I ever saw was one of those uploads. Mankind vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell, KOTR 1998.
There was nothing videogamey or anime about that. God as my witness he's broken in half.

Now I'm not saying we should have more moments like that.
Are there any pivotal mindbreaking moments where everyone just forgets it's a work in the 2010s? 2020s?
