I believe Warrior did more on top in his short-lived run as the FOTC (Face of the Company) tier WWF World Champ in 1990-91 than Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels were given the keys to being babyface FOTC World Champs only to fail badly, granted that HBK was a better entertaining character than Bret.
There was a reason why Vince gave Bret the boot from the WWF after Survivor Series ‘97 in favor of looking at bringing back big names like Ultimate Warrior, Hulk Hogan, etc. as insurance policy backups in case Stone Cold cannot wrestle anymore because of his broken neck (caused by Owen Hart’s botched piledriver), and Bret Hart clearly was never going to adjust to the Attitude Era.
Even into 1997, Warrior was still capable of being a bigger draw than Bret.
