See, I didn’t start watching until around 95 because I was too young and didn’t know wrestling even existed. So by 97 I had been watching The Undertaker basically doing the same stuff for 2 years and I didn’t much care for him or anyone else for that matter.
And then when Kane debuted I was enamored immediately because, well first of all red is my favorite color, and because he was someone I hadn’t seen before and he looked scary and cool and strong.
And then as the story unfolds and we learned what Taker did back at the funeral home I was on Kane’s side. See I’m a younger brother myself and I really identified with wanting to get revenge on the mean older brother.
Plus Kane has fire instead of lightning, he does a better choke slam, he has a cool mask, and his sidewalk slam was awesome. I modified it a bit and it was my finish at school until the teacher made us stop because kids were getting hurt.
Anyway I love Kane and Taker but back then I was a certified Kanenite.
