nah No Mercy had mechanical changes and added match types like Ladder matches and the Survivor battle royale to unlock hidden wrestlers. No Mercy also had a legitimately awesome story mode where you picked a title to chase (or defend) and the story would change depending on if you won or lost matches. not to mention the smackdown mall where you could buy stuff like costumes and other wrestlers with money earned from playing the competitive modes or single player.

No Mercy fucking ruled.

the graphics were praised because they were animated really well, not because they were realistic. The tradeoff was that the AKI games looked less realistic than stuff like Attitude and Mayhem but the game play was a lot more fluid because of the animating.
