Growing up in the late 00s, WWE would always talk about their legends like Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, and Junkyard Dog, but they rarely talked about Sid. I found it odd when I started studying WWE's history as a kid that this guy main-evented WrestleMania twice (against Hogan and Undertaker no less), but yet they never made reference to him. Lex Luger had the same treatment.

I've heard that Vince didn't like Sid on a personal level, which is probably why he doesn't get the flowers he deserved since. Vince probably also holds Lex jumping to WCW on Nitro's first episode against him. Has Lex appeared on WWE TV since?

Vince went to Sid and offered him the Hogan spot. The whole machine behind him as a super face. He said no and that he wanted to be a heel. He literally threw away tens of millions of dollars and as you say, he was over and it would have worked.
I still believe its one of the stupidest decisions made by a wrestler in wrestling history.
