If I'm Tony and I'm hearing rumors that MJF doesn't show the day before my PPV, I text MJF and say, "I need to know if you are going to be there or not by ____. If I don't hear from you, I'm cancelling the match". Then once I know, I tweet out the information so people are informed. I also immediately fire MJF for fucking with me and my money after he does the job.
But if I'm trying to run an angle, I do what Tony did. I throw out breadcrumbs that MJF isn't happy. I have him skip a meet and greet. I either kayfabe or pay off Meltzer/Sapp/Alvarez and I don't say anything so people speculate and buy the show. Then I have MJF claim it's some last minute deal and don't have him be on tv for a few weeks, which is totally fine since his angle just finished and he is now in need of a new program.
