An unfortunate/fortunate reality of AEW is that wrestlers are given a lot of freedom with the details of their booking, and Hangman clearly didn't have the greatest ideas.

It will give AEW a short-term boost but they are just going to keep losing interest long-term. Punk is slow and unathletic in the ring (more so than ever) and he is not interesting as a "personality" now that he sucks off his boss. AEW is just not creating "new stars" anymore than WWE is. Page's only notable win was over Bryan but it was obvious he was not going to lose the belt in his first feud so it was a foregone conclusion.
