Tony Khan's failure is trying to turn MJF into the new CM Punk.. The only difference is CM Punk for all his bullshit is a naturally gifted speaker. MJF as talented as he is on the microphone always seems to be going over the lines in his head as he talks.
He's also terrible at playing off the crowd. He can't change it up on a dime or call an audible during a promo.

People forget stuff. Here's a reminder. Punk didn't get over because of the pipe bomb or being the "voice of the voiceless". Punk got over because of John Cena. There was a contingent of fans that were tired of Cena. Cena represented all of WWE. They wanted his run to end. But most importantly Cena was a mega star. That's why he had half the people seething and the other half cheering. MJF has no Cena here. Tony isn't Vince. He also he isn't Cena. And there is no one in AEW that is Cena level. That's why this doesnt work.
