Nah Wardlow could lose that and not lose much momentum. Miro is well established as a total beast, and giving Wardlow his first real challenge would be fine. Losing to a guy as protected as Miro isn't a black mark on your career like losing to...

The top guys facing each other should be THE GOAL of booking. One will lose, one will win.
Muhammed Ali getting knocked on his ass by Joe Frazier when they faced did literally nothing to hurt Ali in the long run, because Frazier was an absolute monster.

The top guys facing each other IS the goal of booking. Neither Wardlow nor Miro are currently top guys. Both would benefit from getting more wins and looking better than they do right now. Miro just returned and Wardlow JUST got his All Elite graphic. Neither of those two guys should lose right now. That doesn't fucking mean that the top guys facing each other is suddenly not the goal.

His feud with MFJ ended a few days ago. There was no other feud built up or hinted at outside of MFJ's stable, which he already faced recently. He just signed an AEW contract. He's a Goldberg style person so he's going to begin that style of booking. Mark was tangently connected to MJF and just lost his position with Jade so he's gone Rogue and I doubt it's going to be a feud involving much of any in ring opponents other than maybe Tony Neese. OP, if you keep up with the show at all who would you have him go after right out of the gate that would make sense? He'll get a TNT title belt push fairly soon.

Short jobber feud candidates presumably still on the payroll:
Vance, Billy Gunn, Hager, Butcher re-match, Blade, Comoroto...
These guys could do one offs building Wardlow and DQ themselves with run-ins and outside assists not to bury themselves if needed.

Butcher and Blade would be my top pick because Blade isn't a hoss and they have a reason to be there because Butcher already had a match with Wardlow. that's already 3 weeks of material to work with and that program doesn't have to run forever - if you involve Hager or Gunn it'll turn into a stable affair with JAS and others and that's no good. Same with Vance, he'd do well to drop out of Dork order for this.
