I find it strange he wasn't botching like this until entering the title picture. The match with Page, he botched. Then this one, he botched again. Every match prior to that, he didn't botch even once.

i thought his line about fucking up and improving was good. kind of have to be careful when saying that because if you lean too far in it devalues the previous champ, but laughing about a botch or two and saying you need to improve a bit more in some areas is a fine audio plea

not like any of hangman's segments as champ were good. matches were good but at the end of the day, you need charisma to sell them

Those lines are okay when you're on your path to the championship, but when you're at the top of the mountain, calling yourself "the best in the world", and you're wearing the belt, it doesn't make sense. It sounded too outside of kayfabe, like "sorry, I'm still rusty, so thanks for cutting me some slack while I work on catching up with these guys" ...but you're the champ.
