I've never really understood the appeal of Shawn. He was a very easy to hate. Even when he was a face, he just seemed like an obnoxious fruit.

Bret was very likable. Student of the game, legacy, all of his brothers wrestled, great technician, humble gimmick, etc. Shawn was just a pretty boy and oversold everything. A decent heel, but when he became the overly emotional dad-type in the early 2000s, there was no reason for him to come back.
