Damn, I figured Ace was not gonna show up in New Japan for a while and the Bullet Club stuff was gonna develop in Impact a bit before coming back to New Japan. But glad that's not the case, this match looks like it will be great fun and I expect a win from BC.

United Empire get another win leading up to the match, should be a fun little opener.

Guess they realized that they didn't want 8 title matches in a single show, and in a way, maybe the Junior title main eventing somewhere else is better, but it still feels a bit wrong.

My headcanon is they're using the 2 Koreakuen shows to announce the G1 Blocks and match lineup like they used to (and maybe KUSHIDA, domestic fans are betting on it). Okada hasn't faced White in over 2 years.
Juice Robinson and William Ospreay is still a very fresh match up (Hasn't even happened 1 v 1 yet), let alone with SANADA added in.
Karl Anderson hasn't had a singles match in a decade, obviously.
Shingo Takagi VS Taichi is a repeat, sure, but it's an excellent matchup every time, and it's gonna have some rules to freshen it up on top of it.
Zack Sabre Jr and Desperado have literally never teamed up on a 3 v 3 against House of Torture

In short: If you don't watch the product and all you have in your head is an amalgamation of people you know from the company, then no shit every card looks the same to you, retards.

Honestly never been a big fan of Tama Tonga, so I'm not excited in the match by default. With that said, he has definitely been in good matches before.
As for Karl Anderson, the guy might be too old now, I don't know since I haven't seen him in action, but the guy was genuinely deserving of being in this spot in the card back before he left at least once in a while. His match against Hiroshi Tanahashi at New Beginning and his G1 Finals against Okada (Note that this was a greener Okada than the one we have now) were both phenomenal matches. As I said, I'm hopeful.

Used to agree but they're based now. Them being on a lower spot of the card + more comedic focused and SHO really coming into himself as a character is gonna make this match based for sure. I get that the BOSJ has been a lot of shows for the past three weeks or so and people have lives to live, but you clearly haven't been following it along.

Random tag matches in the first half that no one could possibly care about. The format of the individual matches themselves follow templates that are the same every time.
This is on purpose, as New Japan is a touring live event and as such they keeo the show the same because that's what they believe that their ticket holders buy tickets for. But if you don't just watch one show every 6 months its just seeing the same shit every time.

New Japan books the same card every show. Its identical, just the names are swapped around. Guys in New Japan have a specific match they wrestle every time. They do the exact same things every time. Because its a touring circus and they are selling "come see Okada do his 6 moves after selling for 20 minutes". That's their business model. It's literally what they do as a company. Other companies don't have that same model because they adapted for audiences who watch their shows at home. New Japan has not changed its format and still books for live crowds who come see their shows twice a year and that's all.

It's not complicated. If you watch wrestling and spend you time arguing about it on the Internet, the least you could do is understand it at the most basic and obvious levels.

I also think that him bringing in Ace Austin was exactly to replace his position in the Juniors while he moves up as Heavyweight. If Jay White ever, for whatever reason, leaves New Japan, ELP seems like an excellent candidate for the new leader IMO. My stock on him has risen a lot over the past half year.

Yeah, but that could just mean that they gave Taiji the belt because Hiromu v Taiji is a fresher matchup for the title and they were already planning on having Despy on the finals of the BOSJ anyways.

Hope not, though. I want Taiji to retain. Like you said, the BOSJ double record is already great for Hiromu and based muscle manlet deserves some defenses.
