No. The Bullet Club gimmick is what finally got the Bucks over, they copied what Devitt was doing but in a mindless LARP kind of way. Wwe is more responsible for the bullet club and new japan getting popular run the west than anyone else

Cody was still in wwe until well after Cornette ha dleft roh. The Bucks weren't in BC or NJPW until years later either. They were still feuding with the Bravados in DGUSA at the time. Omega had just had his first best indy Japan match award when ROH got on HDnet. Dave is wrong as always.

The Bucks were always in the first 2-3 matches on the card in New Japan. They got polite golf claps but for the most part no one gave a fuck about them. The Bullet Club got over in a big way because someone with the credibility of AJ Styles joined them, and then Omega briefly made it even bigger before he started to undermine it with The Elite stuff.

No, not really. They hype was wwe signing Devitt and saying he was from New Japan. It got bigger when they signed Nakamura and AJ, mostly because they publicised the shit out of those signings. That's what sent the edrones to watch njpw instead of NXT and why you saw bullet club shirts at wrestlemania etc.
No one ever talked about new japan until those signings. Saying this as someone who has been watching njpw since 1998.

Am I crazy, I watched WK9 live and there was a decent audience back then, like bigger than current day Stardom, so I don't know if this is true. AJ and Bullet Club doing ROH bookings during their time in New Japan through 2014-2015 definitely hade decent buzz because he was one of the biggest names outside WWE.

It was mostly AJ having banger matches with Tana, Okada and Suzuki that made the buzz, plus the guy who was essentially mr. tna was all of a sudden in japan with a way better look and presentation with the top belt in a cool but goofy faction wrestling the best matches of his career.

Tana vs Okada was also something that was talked about though not to the same level.
