Technically it means the fight didn’t happen. You cannot lose a fight that did not happen. Nor can you win a fight that didn’t happen. There was no fight to win or lose. Because a No Contest in combat sports means that technically a fight was not contested that evening owing to a technicality.
The problem is we don’t live in a world where we can actually rewind events. The reality of the situation and the formal records of UFC are two different realms.
Daniel Cormier technically never fought Jon Jones a 2nd time. But in reality, everyone saw him get his head kicked in. Everyone saw him crying on PPV. He really said
>can it really be a rivalry if you lose both fights? No technicality can change the events that transpired. Punk was really tickled. He was really beaten bloody and humiliated. The man who tickled and beat the Straight Edge Savior bloody was really Pineapple Express levels of high. He was tickled and beaten and mocked in front of his sort-of hometown crowd (Punk’s not actually from Chicago he’s from the suburbs). It would have been better to just go out there and take the first round L like he did in the first fight. But technically that didn’t happen.
