Motion control was just a gimmick the masses hadn't seen before so the Wii went over.
Whatever the PS3 and 360 did, the original Xbox already did and with some hardware expansions for the fat PS2 that had online multiplayer too, as did Dreamcast.
Consoles haven't been innovated since 2006.
One could argue for the Switch but that's a tablet with what was already a shitty CPU, docking controls and a TV dock. Hardly innovative. Mostly cheap.
You know how in wrestling, sometimes the booker will keep re-booking the same match with the same guys and the same gimmick year after year until it burns out?
