Christian is in a weird spot where he's too big a star and Tony likes him too much to use him as enhancement, but not big enough to go over anyone important. That's why Cole (whether he should be or not) and Omega are the only top guys he's faced. Tony's idea of protecting him is to just not use him too much. That might change when he's a heel and can win dirty, but as a face there are too many guys above him.
