CDP, the main opposition party, has basically decided that the best way to "protect women" is to go even further and push to ban any and all sexual intercourse in Japanese porn in effect destroying the JAV industry. The CDP is supported in this by the Japanese Communist Party who also basically wants anime and manga classified as child pornography. For some reason the Japanese left has gone all in on wanting to ban porn so the CDP (the remnants of the old Democratic Party of Japan) are increasingly viewed as a joke.
Kishida, the current PM, and his cabinet are fairly popular (approval ratings in the mid to high 60 percents) and there's a general election next month so the LDP is going to likely stomp the shit out of the CDP.
