What was vince gonna do? Do the show as normal? There was literally nothing else they could've done desu. It would be absurd to assume that one of their top guys would kill his entire family out of nowhere.
Plus I'm certain all we knew day one was that the whole family was found dead, the details didnt get out until the next day.

I met Chris benoit and his family when I showed up to their home unannounced. They started freaking out and things got physical. Luckily Chris was drunk so I knocked him out easily. Nancy threatened to call the cops and ran in the kitchen so I followed her. I then took her down and started strangling her while putting my knee in her back which unsurprisingly broke her back. I was about to run out the house but then I saw Daniel. Luckily he was retarded so I convinced him that me and his parents were just play wrestling. I sent him off to bed after promising we could play wrestle tomorrow and dragged Chris to the weight room and tied him up for the night. The next morning I suffocated Daniel with a pillow while applying the crossfire for shits and giggles and brought Chris to see the corpses of Nancy and Daniel. He pretty much begged me to put him out of his misery and I told him tomorrow to really let the feeling of despair marinate. Next morning I watched as he tied himself up to a LAT machine and hung himself. Pretty convenient that he was later diagnosed with CTE. Every year I fly down to Georgia to go by the house and reminisce.

Nobody wanted to believe it was Chris. There are still wrestlers to this day, who knew him when he was alive, who insist he was murdered because they can't accept that a guy they admired that much could do something so horrible.

At least with guys like Bill Cosby, everybody who knew the guy IRL hated him and only put up with his bullshit out of greed or necessity. Benoit was probably the most respected guy in the whole company, possibly all of pro-wrestling, at the time of the murders. Above anyone else, he was the guy you could point at to say the business was worth respecting. The murder-suicide retroactively taints everything positive he ever accomplished precisely because in Benoit's case, there's no separating the art from the artist. Especially because his art was the primary cause of the murder-suicide.

Regal wasn't the only one. Triple H and Steve Austin both gave segments, and neither of them could bear to say anything positive about the guy personally either. It stands out especially because Triple H was also on the Eddie memorial show, and he acts so differently to how he acted on the Benoit show you can just tell if he were in Vince's shoes he would've called up USA and begged 'em to air Top Gun or sitcom reruns or anything but wrestling that night, because he obviously knew, or at least suspected, enough to know a memorial show for the prime suspect in a family annihilation was a bad idea, and it's not like they could just go out and do any other sort of show that night.

He was hardly the only pro-athlete with CTE to commit murder. OJ, Phillip Adams, and Aaron Hernandez did the same thing. Even Verne Gagne murdered a man in a nursing home argument when he was battling dementia.

CTE also wasn't the only cause. It amplified already existing negative traits within these men and brought down the barriers checking their negative impulses. Benoit was also going through marital troubles at the time, abusing PEDs and alcohol to massive levels, and his career was rapidly coming to an end. Combine that with the recebt death of his best friend and you have a perfect storm of trouble.
