Not true. I stopped watching wrestling regularly around 2001 but I still had my eyes on some ppvs until Eddies death in 2005. With Cena as the top guy the product no longer became watchable. I only came back to WWE after Punks mikebomb which only spoke truth. I wasn't the only one and Punk became the biggest draw. It was so monumental it was mainstream news. This is what wrestlings supposed to be. If you don't do things that make viewers wonder if it's real or not you're failing. Punk did something no one since Austin was able to do for me. Make people suspend belief. That's why your comment is wrong. How could I have been a smark when I hadn't seen wrestling for years? I stopped watching WWE after Punks run, and even then I could only watch his segments. Bros WWE may be better now, but take the most boring parts you see today, and that's how I felt trying to watch WWE programming 10 years ago. Honestly still do, which is why I don't watch it. But I acknowledge it's much better now. CM punk drew people back into wrestling who had never watched it and liked real drama (like ufc) or who hadn't seen wrestling in a decade or half (like me :D)

Punk was always injured when he worked. He has old school mentality. It was the reason why he left. He was so hurt he couldn't work anymore without surgery. Doctors missed his injury for months and it only made them worse. He didn't miss a show including house shows for years (again, including injury ridden). He has the old school mentality. So if you think Punk is weak minded or gives up when he's injured, you're wrong.
