They could've just had Lashley vs Theory for the US TItle on RAW, and then have him qualify for the MITB on another show and have it make sense, but they randomly did it this way for some reason.

I know they wanted the ‘shock’ entrance but this was an easily explained kayfabe bit they could’ve done just to explain it away.

They did it this way to make it more of a surprise and make people seethe since it was pure heel shit to be put in a match out of the blue. In kayfabe it made the other guys have to deal with a wild card and for fans it instantly made him the standout heel
